The work schedule for this position is an AWS. AWS stands for Alternate Work Schedule:

AWS dayshift is a shift that works from 6am to 6pm with three paid breaks, and one unpaid 30 minute lunch break.  Two shifts available, either AWS dayshift 2-3 or AWS dayshift 4-5.  For example, AWS 4-5 is on 4 days, off 5 days, on 5 days, off 4 days, and then repeat.  AWS 4-5 is on two weekends, and then off two weekends.  AWS 2-3 is on 2 days, off 3 days, on 3 days, off 2 days, and then repeat.  AWS 2-3 is on one weekend, and then off one weekend.  To simply describe either one of these shifts, an employee only works half the days in a year, and half the weekends in a year. 

Position summary

Work in a precision tooling environment programming, setting up, and operating multiple types of Toolroom Equipment to manufacture multiple forms of tooling components from 3D CAD models.  Producing components to print by determining the required efficient processes needed to manufacture.

Essential Job Functions                                                                

  • Manufacture fixturing and tooling from engineering drawings with minimal assistance
  • Preforms machine maintenance
  • Ensure revision levels of paperwork and tooling components are current
  • Read and complies with work instructions, set up sheets, and checklists
  • Accurately records and reports hours worked
  • Troubleshoot using numbers based scientific approach, and determine best effort solutions
  • Initiate suggestions on improvements in the areas of quality, cost, and delivery
  • Ability to surface grind to .00005" tolerance
  • Work closely with Engineering, Quality, Vendors, and all areas of the Toolroom to ensure Best Effort Practices are used during the manufacturing of all tooling components
  • Monitor and assist in the refinement of all Toolroom processes
  • Identify fixturing, gaging, and tooling needs for Toolroom effectiveness
  • Participates in the Operational Excellence program
  • Maintain an organized work area (5S)
  • Understand and comply with the Cretex professional competencies, company policies, and employee manual
  • Proficiently manufacture components with multiple Toolroom Work Centers
  • Adhere to all safety policies; includes wearing personal protective equipment when required
  • Support and comply with the company's Quality System, ISO, and medical device requirements
  • Complete all other work duties as assigned


Minimum Requirements, Education & Experience

  • Associate Degree in Machine Tool or Trades Program
  • 3 years of experience as a CNC machinist
  • Capable of performing work activities driven from work orders, project plans, and maintenance
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Advanced decision making skills
  • Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple tasks
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills
  • Critical thinking / writing (data-based decisions)
  • Excellent communication skills via telephone, email, and in person to ensure successful communication via actively listening and asking detailed questions
  • Ability to conceptualize complex geometry and assemblies
  • Proficiently utilize CAD/CAM software
  • Proficient in GD&T
  • Surface grinding skills
  • Advanced CNC skills
  • Excellent open layout measurement skills
  • Advanced skills related to all manual toolroom equipment
  • Advanced skills related to toolroom measurement equipment

  • Proficient in learning/understanding multiple NC machine interfaces (Fanuc, Charmilles, EZ Trak, etc.)
  • Previous experience with Medical Device manufacturing
